BIOCODEX VIETNAM

From Its Origins To Our Future

Biocodex is a family-owned multinational pharmaceutical company founded in France in 1953. The initial focus of the company was gastroenterology, featuring a unique probiotic: Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745® or Sb I-745, the first probiotic drug to have a positive effect on intestinal microbiota.

Biocodex history

The history of Biocodex started in 1923 with the discovery of the yeast Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745® in Indochina by Henri Boulard. In 1953, Biocodex acquired the rights to Henri Boulard’s yeast strain and fermentation process launching the international pharmaceutical company.

Currently, Biocodex is undergoing a transformation, expanding its development with a strong focus on three core areas: microbiota, women’s health, and solutions for rare diseases. Today, the Biocodex Group is present in more than 20 countries and employs over 1,800 people worldwide.

Biocodex Vietnam today

Vietnam is recognized as one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, offering great potential for development. It is also a strategic focus for Biocodex Group’s investments and expansion in recent years. In addition, Vietnam holds special historical significance as the place where French biologist Henri Boulard discovered the first probiotic yeast strain in 1923. Building on this legacy, Biocodex chose Vietnam to establish its very first subsidiary in the Asia–Pacific region.

The successful inauguration of our new office on April 4, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City marked a major milestone in Biocodex’s geographic expansion across Asia.

A century later, we returned to our origins to open a new chapter in our journey
